What are allergy shots?
Allergy shots are among the most effective ways to treat and
potentially cure your allergies. Pollens and other substances that you
may breathe such as house dust, mites, cat, dog, other animal hairs,
and molds are collected and extracted in the laboratory. Based on the
results of skin testing, we make up special allergy extracts for you.
Then these extracts are diluted and injected into your upper arm in
small but increasing quantities. Allergy shots are given as weekly to
monthly injections. Allergy shots are the most natural way to develop
immunity to substances to which you are allergic. Gradually, your
immune system learns to tolerate these allergens and your symptoms will
decrease.
