What is allergic rhinitis?
Allergic rhinitis is what is commonly referred to as “hay fever” or
“rose fever”. It is a disease of the nose caused by pollens, cat, dog
hair, or dust mites or molds or other allergy producing substances
(“allergens”) landing on the membranes lining the nose. These allergens
cause symptoms that may include runny nose, stuffy nose, nasal itching,
sneezing and postnasal drip. Skin testing, mentioned above, is a key
technique in finding out which allergens are causing your symptoms.
Based on our Physician History, physical exam, and results of skin
testing and other diagnostic maneuvers in our office, we formulate a
treatment plan which usually includes avoidance of offending allergens.
