What is sinus infection?

Sinuses are air-filled cavities around your nose, in your cheeks and forehead. They are connected to your nose by small openings. When your sinuses become infected, you can have one or all of the symptoms of yellow nasal drainage nasal congestion, headache or cough. Sometimes, a sinus infection feels like “that cold has never gotten better”. Antibiotics are frequently needed to treat sinus infections. People with allergies are more likely to develop sinus infections, and have more difficulty recovering from sinus infections. If you have allergies, treating them effectively is an important way to prevent frequent sinus infections from occurring.
